Saint Augustine HABS
The Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) was formed during the Great Depression to employ one thousand out-of-work architects to spend ten weeks documenting "America's antique buildings." The HABS collection includes images of Saint Augustine taken during the initial effort, and others taken between 1958-65 just prior to the rush of restoration projects undertaken in anticipation of the city's Quadricentennial. This is the city as it looked during much of the adult lives of Shirley, Mabel, and Mildred Jones.
